Ballet Heels in public

Shooting on a narrow green strip between busy lanes felt unexpectedly freeing. Normally I try to avoid too many people around me while working—there’s always the risk of distraction, or someone wandering into the frame—but this particular stretch had a rhythm that worked. The traffic flowed steadily on either side, but in the middle, I found a calm, almost cinematic space to move in.

I kept the styling minimal—a simple black dress, sheer tights, and ballet heels—to let the contrast between elegance and location speak for itself. The path was scattered with fallen leaves, and the soft rows of trees gave the shots natural depth. Despite being in a very public spot, the energy felt private enough to really sink into the moment. Raymond shot low and close to make the setting feel almost like a stage, while still grounding it in its urban context.

There was something playful about the whole setup. The tension between the structured posture of the ballet heels and the casual imperfection of pedestrians, signals, and cars just beyond the frame added a subtle layer to each shot. For once, being right in the open brought more focus than distraction—and a welcome bit of fun.
