Modern gothic highstyle fashion
A Modern Gothic Mood
People change their look all the time, sometimes permanently and sometimes just because a certain mood feels right for a day. For this shoot, I wanted to try something darker and more graphic than usual and build a modern gothic style around latex.
Black on Black
The outfit came together through layers of black rather than color. The glossy latex corset and skirt created the strongest shapes, while the tights and leather jacket softened the transitions between them. I liked that the different materials did not disappear into one another. Even in an almost completely black outfit, the surfaces still separated through shine, texture, and structure.
A Different Kind of Presence
The styling changed the way I posed almost immediately. It felt less playful and more controlled, with straighter lines and a slightly colder expression. I was not trying to recreate traditional gothic fashion. I wanted something cleaner and more contemporary, where latex could carry the darker mood without turning the whole look into a costume.
Changing the Character for a Shoot
That is one of the things I enjoy most about fashion shoots. I do not have to permanently change who I am to explore another version of myself. Sometimes a corset, a jacket, different hair, and the right attitude are enough to make the entire character of a shoot shift.
