Choosing Against the Background

I knew I wanted to work with a pink background, but wearing pink or white felt much too obvious. Purple and black gave me exactly the contrast I was looking for. The colors stayed playful without becoming too sweet, and the glossy latex added enough structure to keep the whole look sharp.

Finally, the Headpiece

The best part was that this combination finally gave me a reason to use the headpiece that had been lying around for quite a while. Sometimes an accessory simply has to wait until the right outfit appears. Here it suddenly made sense and gave the whole styling a slightly doll-like, almost theatrical character.

When Contrast Creates the Mood

I like shoots where the background and the outfit do not try to become the same thing. The pink makes the black look darker, the purple stronger, and even the latex shine more noticeable. Sometimes matching everything perfectly is less interesting than letting the different elements argue with each other a little.
