A Little More Acrobatics

I wanted this ballet bonus shoot to feel less like classical posing and more like playing with balance, flexibility, and unusual body lines. Raymond picked out this sporty body for me, and once I added the dark nylons, it suddenly looked much more complete and graphic.

Simple Clothes, Difficult Shapes

The outfit itself is almost minimal, which gave me more freedom to focus on the poses. With pointe shoes on, even a simple wall or a wooden beam can become part of the choreography. I liked trying to make the body look light while actually holding positions that demanded quite a lot of control.

Somewhere Between Dance and Sculpture

That is what I enjoy about these more artistic ballet shoots. They are not really about dancing a variation, and they are not just fashion either. They sit somewhere in between, where the body becomes part of the composition. Sometimes the most interesting image happens when movement stops for just long enough to become a shape.
