Music First, Photos Second

I basically took what I had been wearing that day, removed the blouse, put on my Ballet Heels, and decided that was enough of a concept. Add the headphones and my iPod nano, and suddenly the shoot felt less like styling and more like catching me in my own little world.

Slightly Difficult to Photograph

The problem for Raymond was that I was genuinely listening to the music instead of concentrating on the camera. I kept drifting into the songs, moving with them, forgetting where I was supposed to look, and probably making his job a little more complicated than necessary. But that also made the photos less controlled and more natural.

Sometimes Distraction Helps

I actually like that. Not every shoot needs perfect attention and carefully planned posing. Sometimes being distracted by something real gives the pictures a different kind of energy. In this case, the music did most of the directing, and Raymond just had to keep up.
