Lara Croft role play
A Little Lara Croft Moment
Have you seen the Tomb Raider movies? I watched one recently, and the whole Lara Croft attitude stayed in my head long enough to become a shoot. With the gear we already had around- Raymond’s real but unloaded pistol and a pair of blue latex leggings- it was almost impossible not to try my own interpretation.
Definitely Not My Usual Role
This kind of action character is not exactly my specialty, which probably made it more entertaining. The heavy platform boots, holsters, fitted top, braided hair, and latex gave me enough of the visual language without trying to copy Lara Croft exactly. I could simply play with the idea of being much tougher and more dangerous than I probably looked five minutes before the shoot.
Sometimes Pretending Is Enough
That is the fun of role play in photography. You do not have to become the character or even take the whole thing seriously. For an hour you borrow another attitude, exaggerate it for the camera, and see what happens. I am probably still better with Ballet Heels than action hero equipment, but this was definitely fun.
