One Last Warm Day
Winter is getting closer, and that always changes how much freedom I have with outdoor shoots. I can handle a lot in Ballet Heels, but standing around outside when it is freezing is where my enthusiasm becomes very negotiable. So when we got what looked like one of the last properly warm days, I did not want to waste it.
Red Felt Right
I had this new red fall dress waiting for exactly that kind of moment. It is simple, but the color does most of the work. Against all the grey metal and concrete around the location, it suddenly looked much stronger than I expected. I actually liked that there was nothing else competing with it. No latex, no complicated accessories, no enormous concept. Just the dress, my Ballet Heels, and me trying to enjoy being outside while I still could.
I’m Going to Miss This
Outdoor shoots always feel a little less predictable than working in the studio. The light changes, people appear, the ground is rarely perfect for Ballet Heels, and there is usually something Raymond and I did not plan for. But that is also what I like about them.
Soon enough, I will probably be looking out of the window at cold rain and wondering why I did not stay outside longer when I had the chance. So consider this my little goodbye to warm-weather shooting for now. Red dress, one last comfortable day, and perhaps slightly more appreciation for autumn than I normally have.
