More Like Me

“Be more like me” sounds a little arrogant at first, doesn’t it? But I never understood it as copy me. For me, it means something much simpler: become more like the person you actually want to be. There are always reasons not to do something. Wrong timing. Too difficult. Too expensive. Too strange. Too many people telling you why it probably won’t work. And sometimes the biggest obstacle is simply yourself, because staying where you are is always easier than moving toward something uncertain.

This shoot somehow fit that thought perfectly. The shirt arrived, the message made me smile, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

Go Anyway

Dreams rarely come with a clear road and polite little signs telling you where to turn. Most of the time you stumble, improvise, make mistakes, change direction, and continue anyway. That is probably the important part. You don’t have to become fearless. You just have to become slightly more stubborn than whatever is standing in your way.

And yes, sometimes that apparently includes walking through an industrial area in latex leggings and Ballet Wedges while wearing a shirt telling everyone to be more like you. Could be worse. :)

Become Your Own Version

So when I say “be more like me,” I mean: take your own ideas seriously. Try the thing you keep postponing. Accept that it may look ridiculous before it looks brilliant. And if there is something you really want, keep moving toward it even when the path is inconvenient.

Because reaching the dream is wonderful, but becoming the person capable of reaching it might be the more interesting part.
