The Prototype That Changed My Mind

I got to test one of the early latexkind dress prototypes, so of course I wanted to take it outside and see how it behaved in a real shoot. The fit wasn’t quite right for me, which is exactly what prototypes are for, but the material itself immediately caught my attention.

Raw Latex, No Ritual Required

What I liked most was the surface. The latex had this raw, slightly rough character and didn’t need oil, polish, or even talcum to become wearable and interesting. It just worked as it was. That changes my whole feeling about latex. It becomes less about preparation and maintenance and more about simply putting on a garment and wearing it.

Loose Can Be Better

The biggest surprise, though, was the loose fit. Latex is usually designed to cling to the body, almost by definition, but this dress did the opposite. It moved. It folded. It created volume.

And I loved that. It made the material feel less restrictive, less predictable, and much closer to conventional fashion, while still keeping latex's unmistakable character. If latexkind can push more in that direction, I think it could become very interesting: not latex trying to imitate fashion, but latex simply becoming fashion.
