Black, Brass and a Little More Practical

For this shoot, I wanted to stay almost completely in black, but instead of adding more shine or another material, I used the brass collar and matching cuffs as the contrast. I like how much those warmer metal tones change the whole outfit. Black can easily feel severe, but the brass adds character without making it look busy.

Choosing the Smarter Shoes

The location had stairs, narrow ramps, and a few places where I really didn’t want to test my luck unnecessarily. So I went for the Ballet Wedges instead of Ballet Heels.

Not because I suddenly became sensible. Just sensible enough. :)

They still keep me in that extreme tiptoe position I like, but they give me a little more confidence when the ground gets complicated. That made it easier to move around and actually use more of the location instead of constantly thinking about where I could safely put my feet.

More Freedom, Better Photos

And that probably helped the shoot in another way too. Because I felt more secure moving around, we could play more with the poses, the architecture, the different heights, and the location's lines.

Sometimes the more practical choice is not the boring one. Sometimes it gives you more room to become creative. This shoot was exactly that. Black, brass, Ballet Wedges, and a location that made us work a little harder for the images. I like the result a lot.
